Dr. Liliana Montaño Herrera
I am interested in constrained-based methods to characterize microbial metabolism and the development of new approaches to extend these current methodologies to describe and predict multispecies assemblies. Metabolic network models can be incorporated into multi-scale models that integrate abiotic environmental factors enabling a deeper understanding of microbial self-organization patterns in unsaturated media.
Current research interest
Metabolic network modeling of microbial communities in synthetic ecosystems
Integration of Systems Biology computational tools into multi-scale soil bacteria models
Other areas of expertise
Operation and modeling of bioreactors
Biological wastewater treatment processes
Sustainable production of value-added products from waste
Biopolymer characterization and processing
Umweltphysik Terrestrischer Syst.
